Fifteen retired nurses and CNAs were honored in a reception during National Nurses Week 2022. Best put in the words of St. John’s Home Assistant Director of Nursing Julie Wood, “once a nurse, always a nurse.”
Residents were grateful to be honored and a few tears were shed by the surprise. Staff nurses, Wood, and St. John’s Home Director of Nursing Diane Bogaczyk, personally greeted each resident guest and spent time talking with them about their careers and what they liked best about being a nurse. In one funny, but genuine exchange, a resident recalled that “there were days I wanted to pull my hair out.”
There are many dedicated nurses both currently working and retired among our residents and staff at St. John’s Home. St. John’s is always looking for dedicated professionals to join our team. Learn more here.
