St. John’s held the final virtual webinar of the return in 2022 of its popular Technology Tuesdays Series on Tuesday, March 15. This series had the special focus of “Digital Spring Cleaning,” with all topics related to organizing your online life. The topic for the final webinar of the series was an important one, but often difficult to discuss–Your Digital Afterlife. Over 40 people were online to participate with technology instructor Daniel Jones leading the discussion as the featured speaker.
The major portion of the webinar was spent helping participants to avoid the situation Jesse’s dad was left with after Jesse’s unexpected death. With today’s updated legislation, allowing for more access to digital files by designees identified before a person’s death, there are many steps than can be put in place in advance that will allow for the better outcome of one’s “digital afterlife.” However, Daniel Jones reinforced that people need to know what measures to put in place before death.
Sharing this type of instruction with seniors is nothing new to instructor Daniel Jones. Jones is an independent consultant/instructor based in Rochester, NY, who provides both private in-home one-on-one instruction, as well as small-size courses and seminars at various community centers, independent living and assisted living communities. Jones has developed computer, internet and digital technology programs for Lifespan’s Lily Café and Senior Options For Independence (SOFI) at Fairport Baptist Homes. He has also taught courses and seminars through Lifespan, Valley Manor, Oasis Institute, Crimson Ridge Meadows, The Summit at Brighton, Baywinde, Eastside YMCA, Perinton Community Center, and The Highlands At Pittsford.
