National Breast Cancer Awareness Monthis an international health campaign that is held every October. The month aims to promote screening and prevention of the disease. Some studies have shown a tie between dementia and breast cancer treatment. Cognitive impairment during treatment can have a lasting effect on the brain; sometimes this can even accelerate dementia progression if the patient is genetically predisposed.
Jolene Brackey, author of the best-selling book Creating Moments of Joy, will visit Rochester in early November.
